Jasmine Summer Dress – My Secret Honey Red Damask Dress
Today I would like to talk about my Secret Honey Jasmine Red Damask onepiece, which is based on the dress Jasmine wore, when Jafar was sultan.
This is part of my ongoing series in which I post about one of the dresses in my collection every month. The last one I posted was my Megara “I Won’t Say” Onepiece. Most of my dresses are art to me, I love the quality, I love all the details and I’m overall a Disney lover, which is why this series exists :). I do wear most my dresses, coats etc. occasionally (I’d love to on a daily, but they are special so I wear them for special occasions like going to the cinema, Halloween, Carneval etc.)
Allow me to briefly talk about the brand:
Secret Honey
Secret Honey is a Japanese brand that has an ongoing Disney Collection since 2013 I believe, they started with a Mickey/Minney Mouse Collection and then released several collections in 2014, amongst them their first Frozen collection.
The dresses are all licensed and they are (since 2017 I believe) divided into the more “casual” ones and their “Halloween” Dresses (which should just be called “Cosplay” because that’s what they are and they release them all year round). They have gotten quite expensive by now, just a warning. If you are interested in how I purchase these dresses, you find some links in my Megara dress post. Now on to the dress!
The Secret Honey Jasmine Red Damask Dress
I do unfortunately not remember, what year this dress is from… I believe it is from 2016, but I could be wrong about that. Let us start with a full length view of the front of the dress:
And this is the back. The dress is, as you can see, fully shirred in the back. Also, the straps are adjustable and there is some shirring in the sleeves as well, so the do not slip down your shoulders all the time:
The dress is also fully lined, like all of Secret Honey’s dresses are, the quality is truly amazing! I’d say, this dress might fit up towards a German size 38 or an American size M. It is pretty spacious in the chest area, the only problem might be the straps, they might be too short for some of you, I wear them at the longest possible and it’s just right. I am 174cm tall, just for reference 🙂
What I Love in Particular
This dress is gourgous. I love the red, I love, that Jafar is featured (he’s my fave… seeing a pattern there? Yep, the bad guys are the best ;D). In particular, I love these elements, that we are going to have a look at in detail later in this post:
- The beading details around the neckline and on the waistband;
- the pattern on the dress;
- the adjustable straps,
- and the prints, of course.
Beading Details
This dress does feature some absolutely beautiful beadwork! Let’s get into it. There’s beading on around the neckline, in the centre of the chest area and on the waistband. Secret Honey used different kinds of beads, mainly wooden beads as well as normal ones in different sizes, but also rhinestones.
Here you see all the different types of beads as well as the linnen like fabric they used for the neckline as well as the waistband. Also, there is a beautiful pattern on the fabric that reminds me of arabian embroidery and ornaments.
Here are some more details. The beads are not placed in a specific pattern, more like all over the place, but, almost symmetric on both sides of the neckline. Also there are no beads where your arms are going to be, which is great, no one likes scratches.
In the centre of the chest area is this beautiful circular beading pattern. It was hard to photograph, please excuse that it is a bit blurry.
To finish this part, here’s the center detail of the waistband.
The Pattern on the Fabric
The dress is patterned with different elements like ornaments, jasmine flowers, characters from the movie and more. I’ve already shown you the pattern on the neckline and the waistband, so let’s have a look at the pattern on the skirt:
You can see the lamp, Genie, the flying carpet and more 🙂
The Straps
The straps are pretty simple, to be honest, but what I love about them is the gold embroidery as well as how practical they are, since they are adjustable. They were also hard to photograph, I need to experiment a bit more with macro etc. for next time. Here is a detail look:
The Print
The print around the hem features scenes from the movie with Jafar and Jasmine. The prints are surrounded by golden ornaments. There are five different motives around the hem in the front. The same motives are repeated for the back. Let’s have a look at three of them in detail, starting with the center piece:
I like this one, Iago is there, you can see the palace on top as well as the beautiful ornaments framing the picture. Funny thing: Note how Jafar’s body just stops where his red sash should be 🙂
Here is one of the two motives just featuring Jasmine. Always liked the ponytail on her 🙂
And here’s the last one I would like to show you. There’s two motives with Jafar and Jasmine where you see their full bodies and that’s the one, showing Jasmine wearing the crown Jafar wanted to give her.
And that’s it for this post you guys! Thanks a lot for reading, I wish you a nice morning, evening, night or whatever time it is at your place 🙂
