Secret Honey Mary Poppins Set

Hello everyone, welcome back to another post. Today I would like to show you my Mary Poppins Set from Secret Honey. This is so perfect for spring. I know, it’s technically an Edwardian summer dress, but with the long sleeves it reads more spring to me.

I showcase one of my Disney pieces every two weeks, you can check out my other posts if you like. Last time I showed you my Secret Honey Frozen Tulle Skirt 2014.

If you would like to know more about the brand and about how you can get these dresses, I have got you covered in this post. I also sometimes sell dresses from my collection, check out my shop or my Instagram, I usually list them there.

The Mary Poppins Set

This set consists of a blouse, a skirt and a corset belt. Here it is in its full glory on my dressform. From the front:

I really love that this is a set and no dress. It is easy to just wear the skirt or blouse on their own which are totally work appropriate in my opinion. Here it is from the side:

Or you can just wear the full outfit for a beautiful Disney bound. It almost feels like a costume because of the length of the skirt to me. Here it is from the back:

Sizing and Closure

The Blouse

The blouse closes with a row of buttons in the front. I’d say this fits a small size M with a normal bust. The bust area is on the smaller side, keep that in mind:

The Skirt

The skirt closes with a side zipper and a hook and an eye at the top:

I don’t know the exact measurements for the skirt, but I’d say it fits a small size M. There is also an elasticated panel in the center back to adjust the circumference to you.

The Belt

The corset belt closes with hooks and eyes in the front, there is no zipper. This makes it a bit fiddly to get on, but it also looks very sophisticated:

In the back, there is an elasticated panel and a lace up detail to adjust the belt to your size:

The Blouse

Now let’s have a look at all the details of this wonderful set starting with the blouse.

The Buttons

This blouse has the most beautiful flower-shaped buttons to close it in the front and at the cuffs:

I think they are truly wonderful with the gold peeking out from underneath from time to time.

Red Velvet Ribbon

The collar and the cuffs of this blouse are decorated with a velvet ribbon in a beautiful shade of deep red. It is laced through the lace that decorates collar and cuffs:

The ribbon around the collar ties into a bow in the front:

The Embroidery

On the sleeves of the blouse, we have embroidery, showing a beautiful floral pattern:

The Collar

The collar of this blouse is decorated with a beautiful two-layer ruffle with scalloped edges:

The Skirt

The skirt is made from several layers of fabric. An organza layer, a tulle layer, the fabric with the print and a lining layer. Still, it is not completely opaque as you can see on my images of the whole set, the stand of my dressform is visible through all the layers. So bear that in mind and wear opaque tights with it.

The Print

The print is very simple yet effective, showing carousel horses and flowery ornaments:

Red Velvet Bows

On the tulle layer we have bows in the red velvet ribbon placed a bit above the carousel horses.

Embroidery

On the organza layer, we have the same floral motives embroidered as on the blouses sleeves:

The Belt

The belt is made from a red fabric that looks like velvet or velour from afar but isn’t, it is polyester. It is decorated with white braided trim and lace:

And that is already everything that I wanted to show you today. I hope you enjoyed having a look at the details of this Mary Poppins set with me. I thank you for reading and wish you a good one.

Love,
Ella
