“Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” Elsa Dress – Secret Honey
Today I would like to talk about my Secret Honey “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” Elsa dress. This post was initially planned for Halloween, but unfortunately, I did not have the time to finish it. But since Frozen 2 just hit the theaters, I thought it is still fitting, maybe even better 😉 This is the first one of Secret Honey’s Halloween dresses I show you. Cosplay would be the more fitting term, since they release them all year round, but since they call these their Halloween dresses, let’s leave it at that.
If you like these dresses, I showcase a new one (almost) every month, so if you’re interested, check them out, the last one I showed you was my Nightmare Before Christmas Set. If you’d like to know more about the brand and how I get these dresses, I have a whole post for you on how to buy Secret Honey dresses.
Now, the dress. It is absolutely stunning. I do prefer their casual dresses because they are easy to incorporate into the wardrobe and there are more possibilities to wear them. I am picky with Secret Honey’s Halloween dresses because I will probably not get much use out of them. However, I did get a few ones, like Merida’s dress, Anna’s Snow Mountain dress, Elsa’s Ice Queen dress and also Belle’s library dress. This is my favourite Elsa dress, so I had to have this… I mean, look at it:
The Collar
The first thing I would like to point out about this dress is the collar. It is detachable, so if you just want to wear the velvet dress, that is gorgeous in itself, you can! I find this very cool, because I adore the velvet dress so much and it makes it easier to wear it out, as an evening dress maybe, not a cosplay, while still remaining Elsa’s dress.
The fur was a bit in disorder, when I got the dress, but I tried to make it look as pretty as possible in the meantime and I think, it does look cool. Still a bit straggly, but much better. It is fake fur, btw. I love, that they incorporated the red “dots” the original dress has. They are represented with beads:
Also, here’s a first glance at the embroidery and embellishment… I adore this dress, it is stunning. They even thought about the violet little detail.
Embroidery and Crystals
The whole dress is embellished, as is the original. Here are some detail shots, the first one shows embellishment around the sleeve cuffs:
And then, there is the beautiful embroidery work around the hem. It makes the dress a bit heavy in the front, but so far, I don’t think, it has an impact on the fabric… There is more embroidery around the hem, but none on the center back panel (so the dress is lighter on the back and can hang a bit lower in the front). The dress is made from 6 panels, five of them embroidered. Here is the embroidery on the center front panel:
There’s also embroidery around the hem of the cape. I do appreciate, that they went with iridescent fabric instead of glitter on this dress. It matches the simplicity of the design and you do not end up with a mess.
And here a close up:
I really love the dress and it’s fantastic, that Secret Honey was able to do such a beautiful version of an animated dress. This one is really perfect to me. And now, that you have seen some details of the cape, let’s have a look at it in its entirety!
The Cape
Are you ready?! That is what the dress looks like from the back:
Stunning, right? I still love it, it is perfect. I should have steamed the cape though… Sorry about the wrinkles 😉
Lift or Detach the Cape
To walk around without destroying this beautiful cape, you can detach it. It’s attached with buttons beneath the collar around the neckline.
If you do not want to detach the cape, there’s also the possibility to lift it up. As you can see, there are little loops installed at the top of the cape where it attaches to the neckline.
Along the cape, there are two buttons, so there’s also different height options.
Just use the loops for the buttons and voilà, the cape is not dragging on the floor anymore. This is a really cool detail to me, because it makes the costume much more practical, if you really wear it to a Halloween party, including collar and cape.
Closure and Back
There’s a hidden zipper at the side to get the dress on. Since it is stretchy, that’s a fairly easy process (more difficult for other dresses without stretch…).
Here you can also see that the dress is fully lined in violet. I love the material of this dress by the way, the velvet falls so nicely and is super soft. Also, the dress is really flattering, I love how the dress makes my body look.
T make it as flattering as possible, there is a shirring detail on the back where you can adjust how tight the dress is around your waist. Since the material is so stretchy, it is very forgiving when it comes to sizes. The sleeves are a bit tight (but there’s still room) and short on me, but the rest fits perfectly. So if you are not too tall (I’m 1.75 metres, and that leads to short sleeves…), it should fit wonderfully.
I absolutely adore this dress. I love wearing it when I’m at home… Not bizarre at all, it is super comfy and I like to sit around looking classy 😉 I do also own the casual version of this dress as well as the coat (the faux fur version)!
And that’s it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed, thanks a lot for reading. I wish you a nice day, morning, evening, afternoon, whatever time it is at your place.
