Secret Honey Aurora Briar Rose Dress
Hello everyone, welcome back to another post. Today I would like to show you my Aurora Briar Rose dress from Secret Honey. I fell in love with the first version of this dress that was released in 2014, but I never found it, so I bought this version when it was released. The beaded collar and the border print telling the story are so cute.
I showcase one of my Disney pieces every two weeks, you can check out my other posts if you like. Last time I showed you my Secret Honey Mary Poppins Set.
If you would like to know more about the brand and about how you can get these dresses, I have got you covered in this post. I also sometimes sell dresses from my collection, check out my shop or my Instagram, I usually list them there.
The Aurora Briar Rose Dress
As always we will have a look at the dress from all sides before we discuss the details. Here is the dress from the front:
This is the 2016 version of Secret Honey’s original design from 2014. The most visible difference between the two versions is the collar, which was black in the 2014 version. Here is the dress from the side:
I am really happy that I was able to find this dress for a reasonable price since it was my first Secret Honey dream dress. I remember going to the store in Fukuoka and asking for it with the little bit of Japanese I knew back then. But it was sold out unfortunately. Here it is from the back:
Sizing and Closure
The dress is on the smaller side as far as I remember. The dress closes with a zipper in the center back and a hook and an eye at the top. The whole back panel has shirring at the waist.
The cuffs close with a fabric covered button. They are very small and since they are higher on my arms than on the models arms, I cannot really close the buttons because the cuffs are too tight. Keep that in mind if you have long arms like me.
The bodice closes with a zipper at the side. In the back, there is a wide shirring panel that helps to adjust the bodice to your size. There is not a lot of room in the bust area though.
The Bodice
The bodice is made from a black fabric that reminds me of cotton in texture (but it is made from polyester). There is a little wedge cut out at the top that is decorated with a lace up detail. A bone stabilizes the center front of the bodice.
The straps are adjustable in length and they are also detachable which is cool since Aurora’s bodice doesen’t have straps. With the bone in the bodice front, I guess it would stay in place, but I haven’t tried that so far.
The Collar
The collar is beaded and decorated with fabric flowers and soutache in gold. There are rhinestones, pearls, tubular beads and normal beads. The shirt part of the dress has a beautiful pleated detail in the center front.
Here is a closer look on one side of the collar. The soutache details continue in the back.
The Print
The dress features two different prints, a striped print on the skirt interspersed with rose tendrils and a border print featuring some characters of the movie. Let’s have a look.
The Stripes and Roses
The skirt of the dress is decorated with a striped print in light grey that is decorated with rose tendrils in regular intervals. The skirt is nicely pleated in the center front as well as on the sides.
The Border Print
The border print features different characters and scenes from the movie. From left to right in chronological order we have: Aurora with some roses in the forest.
Then we have the scene where Aurora sings with the forest animals:
In the middle of the dress on both sides we have the castle:
Next we have the scene in which Aurora pricks herself in the finger. Maleficent is also featured:
Then we have the scene where Prince Philip fights against Maleficent as a dragon:
Lastly, we have the scene in which Prince Philip kisses Aurora awake. The scene is decorated with roses:
And that is already it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed having a look at this Aurora Briar Rose dress together with me. Thanks a lot for reading and I will see you in the next post.
Love,
Ella
