Secret Honey Rapunzel Lantern Dress

Hello everyone, welcome back to another post. Today, I would like to show you this Rapunzel Lantern dress from Secret Honey. This is my favourite print they released for Rapunzel. I also wrote a blogpost about the Rapunzel Lantern Maxidress and the Lantern Skirt, in case you are interested.

The Rapunzel Lantern Dress

This dress is one of the comfiest dresses I own, I absolutely love it. Since the weather was nice lately, I have been wearing the dress twice, once with a little jacket and once without. Here’s the dress styled with a little Only jacket:

And here without a jacket. It was aroung 28 degrees and I was toasty warm since it is polyester, but it was also nice and breezy. I like to wear it off the shoulders, because then the bodice sits on my natural waist:

The only downside of this dress is that the armholes are very small… So if you have curvier arms or ar very tall, it might be a bit tight around your arms. Here it is from the side:

And then, here it is from the back, although it looks the same as the front and the side view :D:

Sizing and Fit

This dress is really nice for all the girls and boys, that are a bit taller and/or no size XS/S. The bodice is completely elasticated, allowing for a bigger bust, which I absolutely love. It makes the dress also very comfy to wear. One thing to mention is, that the bodice is quite short. Even, when my bust was smaller, it was always a little high-waisted on me. But I am tall with a long torso. So this might not be a problem for you 🙂

Also very nice, the sleeves and the neckline are elasticated:

Bodice Details

The bodice looks fairly simple at first sight, but there are a few cute details Secret Honey incorporated. Of course, we need to talk about the beautiful lace up detail in the front. The ribbon is laced through eyelit lace that also decorates the edges of the lace up front:

Next we have ruffles. There’s ruffles with a double layer around the neckline and around the waist. It’s the fashion fabric and underneath we have a double layer of fine white tulle. The tulle is not scratchy at all. Here are the ruffles around the neckline:

The Skirt

I love the skirt of this dress because I love the print soooo much. Let’s have a look at the details:

The Layers

The skirt has two layers, the fashion fabric layer and the lining layer. The fashion fabric is a light-weight chiffon fabric. The seams seem to be “artificial”, at first I thought it is french seamed together, but these are just “tucks” for decoration purposes.

The lining layer is done with a linnen-like fabric that has a tulle ruffle around the hem to give the dress a bit of poof and peeks out from under the overskirt.

The Lantern Print

The star of this dress is of course the beautiful lantern print. It is all over the dress and shows the lanterns that were sent to the sky each year on Rapunzel’s birthday. This dress was released in a “night” and “day” version. As you may have noticed, I always went for the night version… Lanterns on the day don’t make a lot of sense to me… Anyway, here is a close up of the lanterns:

The Border Print

And last but not least, let’s have a look at the border print. I love this print, it is so pretty. First up, we have Rapunzel swinging around a tree using her long hair. We also see her tower in the background:

In the middle of the skirt, we have the scene in which Flynn and Rapunzel are dancing in the kingdom.

And the last scene we have is of course the scene on the lake, which is my absolute favourite in the whole movie:
